About Aksara

Glycerine Aksara is a scholarly research platform for the transliteration, linguistic analysis and publication of ancient manuscript and inscriptional texts. Built on open standards, it connects manuscript images, textual editions and philological interpretation in a structured, interoperable research environment. Glycerine Aksara respects the privacy of unpublished research and the intellectual property rights of contributing scholars. Research materials and scholarly contributions remain subject to the rights of their respective owners, with access, sharing and publication governed by the permissions established for each collection.

The platform has been developed by Systemik Solutions under contract to the University of Sydney, through a project funded by the Khyentse Foundation. Glycerine Aksara is non-proprietary scholarly infrastructure, informed by open-source principles and intended to serve the wider research community by supporting the independent development and publication of scholarly editions. Its continued development and long-term sustainability are envisaged through scholarly collaboration and institutional participation, with arrangements for governance, maintenance and support to evolve as the platform matures.
